I am thankful every day that I can help people smile and feel their best through pain-free dentistry. I have been able to build many trustful relationships with my patients over the past 34 years. I give my patients honest and reliable solutions to their dental problems. I am honoured that they refer friends and family to our office, and many of them travel great distances to see us.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

I received my Bachelor of Science and Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Alberta in 1990. In addition, I was the sole recipient of the Arthur D. Cumming Medal for being top of my class in children’s dentistry. Upon graduation, I joined a dental practice in Princeton, BC, where I worked as an associate for two years. From 1992 to 2008, I was a partner of PoCo Dental Group in Port Coquitlam. I started my own clinic, Keryluk Laser Dental, in 2008 to provide the best possible dentistry available. In 2019, I changed the name of the practice to Face & Smile Vancouver to reflect our comittment to designing smiles uniquely to each person's face.

CONTINUING EDUCATION

Whether it's laser-assisted fillings, one visit in-office crowns, scalpel-free implant surgery, or 3-D printed in office night guards, technology is fascinating and every advance makes my job easier and more comfortable for my patients. I have completed several study clubs, from orthodontics to implants. I incorporate this additional expertise into my practice, which expands the scope of treatments available to all my patients.

I continually upgrade my education and practice skills by attending numerous continuing education courses and seminars across North America. I am an active member of the British Columbia and Canadian Dental Associations, and have served on a committee for the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia. I volunteer my dental expertise to help the British Columbia Coroners Service and RCMP to identify unknown remains and bring closure to many homeless or missing persons.

MY TEAM

My highly trained team keeps updated with dental techniques, and many of them have been with me for more than 32 years. They are a part of my family! We incorporate ongoing technological changes with Invisalign®, Nobel Guide (computer-guided implant placement), digital impressions with the iTero® Element, and laser fillings and gum treatments. The Waterlase iPlus 2.0 enhances the strength of white fillings, and many cases do not require anesthetic.

OUTSIDE THE OFFICE

I come from a large family of nine, and I enjoy spending as much time as I can with them. When I have the chance, I also enjoy traveling, hiking, and pickleball. I am an avid recycler, and I drive an electric car to lower my impact on the environment. I am a passionate supporter of the SPCA, where both my cats are from. I fundraise with my great team for the SPCA and we have raised more than $150,000 over the last five years. I also support several local charities, including Covenant House.

I am a native of the Lower Mainland, having grown up in Surrey. I went to UBC for my undergraduate education, and then UBC Dental School, from which I graduated in 1986. After obtaining my Doctorate of Dental Medicine, I elected to continue my studies with a one-year hospital residency. This additional year enabled me to develop my oral surgical skills and gave me the opportunity to treat medically compromised patients in a hospital environment.

After my hospital residency I practiced in Toronto, for a year before returning to the Metro Vancouver area. Many in the Tri-Cities area would remember me from Pearl Dental Clinic on North Road, where I practiced for more than 20 years. I also maintained a part-time practice at the Peninsula Dental Clinic in South Surrey for many years. In 2013, I joined Face and Smile Vancouver and now enjoy treating my patients in the comfortable environment of this modern and friendly practice.

Throughout my years of dentistry, I have greatly valued the trust and confidence my patients have had in me. I feel it is a privilege to be able to provide people with their dental care, and I strive to do my utmost to make their visits as comfortable and stress-free as possible. I enjoy family dentistry and getting to know my patients and their families. I have had the pleasure of watching generations grow up and start families of their own, and becoming the dentist for their little ones.

MORE ABOUT DR. WACKER’S EDUCATION

Keeping up with current knowledge in dentistry is very important. Over the years, I have attended many continuing education courses on a variety of procedures, such as dental implants. I have taken a special interest in orthodontics since 2000, when I enrolled in an orthodontic education program that took two years to complete. Since completion of that program in 2002, I have been part of a study group that meets every month to treat patients under the mentorship of a certified specialist in orthodontics. In 2008, I became certified as an Invisalign® provider, so I can offer my patients the option of orthodontics with clear aligners.

OUTSIDE THE OFFICE

Over the years, I have been involved in several committees of the Vancouver and District Dental Society, and in the organization of major continuing education events and conferences for dentists. I have also been a participant in community dental clinics to perform dental procedures for financially underprivileged members of society. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, biking, and traveling.
