Select dental offices in our network use CEREC to design and place crowns all in one appointment. There’s no need for a temporary crown or a return visit. A digital scan replaces the old impression process, and the crown is crafted and fitted while you’re still in the chair. It’s a simple, efficient way to restore a damaged tooth without the long wait.

Certain clinics use AI tools – such as Diagnocat or VideaHealth – to assist in reviewing dental images. These programs can highlight fine details and draw attention to areas worth a closer look. Your dentist still makes every decision, but this technology can support earlier detection or confirm what they’re already observing.

The iTero scanner builds a 3D image of your teeth with none of the mess that comes with traditional dental moulds. The process is fast and easy to sit through. These scans are commonly used to plan Invisalign treatments, crowns, and other procedures – and you can view your own teeth on screen right during your appointment.

CBCT, or Cone Beam Computed Tomography, provides your dentist with a full three-dimensional view of your mouth and jaw. This type of scan is commonly used when planning dental implants or assessing root and bone structure before a procedure begins.

Your dentist may use a VELscope device to pass a gentle blue light over the inside of your mouth. This helps reveal changes in soft tissue that aren’t always visible under regular lighting. The screening takes only a moment and causes no discomfort – it’s often included as part of an oral cancer check.

The majority of our clinics have moved to digital X-rays rather than traditional film. Images appear faster, radiation exposure is far lower – roughly 10% of the amount used with conventional film X-rays – and the results appear instantly on a screen next to you. Your dentist can zoom in, point out what they’re seeing, and track changes from one visit to the next.

Certain clinics use dental lasers – such as Diagnodent or Biolase – for work involving the gums, early cavity detection, or soft tissue care. In some cases, lasers can reduce or eliminate the need for freezing and may support a faster recovery. Your dentist will let you know whether laser treatment is a good fit for your needs.

An intraoral camera is a compact tool that allows your dentist to share what they’re looking at inside your mouth. It captures detailed close-up images of your teeth and gums so you have a clear picture of what’s going on – not just a guess. You can follow along, ask questions, and stay informed every step of the way.

Blue LED light is used in some whitening treatments to activate the bleaching gel. It works to break down stains and enhance the brightness of your smile. If the clinic you visit offers in-office whitening, your dentist can explain how the light plays a role in that process.

Some dentists wear magnifying loupes fitted with small built-in lights. These allow them to see fine details with greater clarity during treatment. The result is better visibility, more precise work, and less physical strain for the person treating you – all of which can contribute to a better outcome.
